Volvo Penta Marine Diesel Maintenance Schedule:
Daily:
- Cooling System Coolant Level – Check.
- Engine Air Cleaner Service Indicator – Check
- Engine Oil Level – Check.
- Fuel System Water Separator – Drain.
- Marine Transmission Oil Level – Check.
250 Service hours or Yearly:
- Crankcase ventilation filter – Change.
- Air filter. – Change
- Engine Oil & Filter – Change.
- Drive belts. Check belts & tensioner. Replace as needed.
- Seawater pump seal – check for leakage.
- Seawater pump Impeller – Replace.
- Zinc anodes. – Replace
- Fuel filter/fuel pre-filter. Change
- Reverse gear. Change oil and filter.
- Inspection of exhaust hose and cooling water hoses
- Check hoses/pipes, unions, and hose clamps.
- Thoroughly inspect all hydraulic hoses and fittings for signs of leaks, wear, cracks, or aging. – Replace as Needed.
- Seawater system – Flush system with Descaling Solution.
- EVC system. Inspection with the diagnostic tool
500 Service hours or 2 years:
- Zinc Anodes – Inspect/Replace.
- Seawater pump impeller – Replace.
- Seawater Pump Seals – Inspect
- Seawater System – Flush with Descale solution.
- Battery Electrolyte Level – Check.
- Serpentine Belt – Inspect/Replace.
- Belt Tensioner – Inspect/Replace.
- Cooling System Supplemental Coolant Additive (SCA) – Test/Add.
- Engine Air Cleaner Element – Clean/Replace
- Engine Crankcase Breather – Clean
- Engine Oil Sample – Obtain
- Engine Oil and Filter – Change
- Fuel Inlet Screen – Clean
- Fuel System Primary Filter/Water Separator Element – Replace.
- Fuel System Secondary Filter – Replace
- Fuel Tank Water and Sediment – Drain
- Hoses and Clamps – Inspect/Replace
- Seawater Strainer – Clean/Inspect
- Water Pump – Inspect.
- Reverse gear – Change oil and filter
- Thoroughly inspect all hydraulic hoses and fittings for signs of leaks, wear, cracks, or aging.
1000 Service hours or 4 years:
- Aftercooler Core – Clean/Test.
- Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) – Change.
- Engine Protective Devices – Check/Test
- Magnetic Pickups – Clean/Inspect.
- Turbocharger – Inspect.
- Inspect exhaust hose and cooling water hoses. Relace as Needed.
- Engine Valve Lash – Inspect/Adjust.
- Fuel Injection Timing – Check.
