My wife and I are both licensed Coast Guard captains and are very focused on preventative maintenance on our Nordlund 65.
We are planning our annual voyage, north from Southern California to British Columbia,
and going through all the “to-do punch list” items that need to be fixed before we leave.
We noticed a small amount of oil oozing out from under our turbos.
tried calling a few diesel repair shops in the Ventura area and got the usual…..”Two months out… I’ll see if I can find time…Send me a picture and I’ll see what I can do”….
most of you reading this have probably had similar experiences with boat workers.
I saw Jeff’s ad while I was doing a Google search, was impressed with his experience.
I left a phone message for him and also sent him an email with a picture of what was happening with the oil leak.
He called back within two hours and said he could be on the boat Monday which was three days away.
I jumped at the chance and confirmed that he should be there at 10 o’clock in the morning.
Jeff and his crew showed up at 9:59 AM and had the turbo pulled in 45 minutes.
They had them reinstalled within a week after he got the appropriate gaskets.
He has since done other diesel related work on the boat and I must say he meets or exceeds all my expectations.
He and his crew clean up after themselves, are always on time. Jeff actually follows up with a phone call to make sure that I am satisfied.
His prices are fair and reasonable.
He is a great find for anyone needing diesel work done between Santa Barbara and Marina Del Rey. He comes highly recommended by us.

It had been almost 20years since our engines, twin Detroit Diesel 12V71s & 2 northern lights generators had a in depth maintenance service completed.
Jeff and his sons came in day 1.. prepared with all the tools and everything else needed to keep our yacht clean & tidy.
there was extensive work done on the cooling system along with all the other preventive maintenance procedures.
Jeff made the process as painless as possible with his attention to detail and professionalism.
the work was completed in a timely manner the pricing was fair & great communication skills.

The topic of marine diesel fuel can be complex, especially since some manufacturers of the newest diesels with emission controls require the use of lubricity additives in the fuel.
You will need to find out if this is a requirement for your engine right from the start.
Additionally, engine manufacturers are now recommending that fuel injector spray patterns be checked every four or five years or 1,000 hours.
