Top 10 Marine Diesel Engines 2024, From a marine diesel mechanic with over 25 years in the business. just like old cars marine diesel engines of the past were built to last. they were also much bigger and heavier.!
in my opinion the 4 most dependable and that have stood the test of time were the Detroit Diesel 671, Cummins 555, Caterpillar 3208 and the Lugger L6170.
but now its 2024 the engines are much lighter and smaller but because of that they give up some longevity especially in the saltwater cooling systems. so here is my list of top 10 marine diesel engines 2024.
